Description: 1885 final revised report on the Cotton Worm and Boll Worm which were detrimental to the raising of cotton crops. This report was researched by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and specifically written by Dr. Charles V. Riley. This is the original 1885 edition, not a modern reprint. The exterior is rough but the interior is very good over all. The string binding is intact, slightly loosened in some areas. The text is clean and unmarked though clearly used. A few pages have rough edges and one page is missing a small piece from the margin area. There are two color fold-out maps and a nice selection of beautiful full color lithographed plates. There are many black and white illustrations, diagrams and plates. The book has comprehensive and detailed information on the worms and much information on how to eradicate them (with 19th century technology). Covers are very soiled and worn. The spine is partially detached from the binding. The title on the spine is not readable. There is not a continuous page count but the book is 2 inches thick. 6 x 9.5 inches. Ships with USPS media mail, signature required.
