Description: 17th Century Charles II Bible Box Country of Origin: EnglandCirca: 1675 This carved boarded oak box originated in late 17th Century England. It would have likely been called either a "desk box". In the 19th Century, the Victorians called most small, old, oak boxes, "bible boxes" as many of them were used to hold the family bible, and other important documents. This box is typical of the period with decorative carved nulling that runs along the front. A great piece of history that you can own today!
