REVERSE: A wreath. Uninscribed and unawarded This is a late 18th century copper pass or ticket to the Catch Club. The club was a song composing and drinking club in St. James, London. The clubs existed to encourage the composition of glees, canons, and catches. Many of the royal nobility were members as well as the most prominent musicians of the time.
